How do I know when my hybrid battery is beginning to fail. here we brought a top 6 hybrid battery failure symptoms you can expect when it happens. these symptoms are valid for major hybrids including Toyota Prius, Honda hybrids, etc. so check and know what happens when the hybrid battery dies.

  1. Decreased fuel economy: If you own the car since it was new or relatively new. One of the subtle things you’ll start to notice is that your fuel economy will start to diminish.
  2. Shorter duration in EV mode: You will experience the EV mode being shorter durations. and less frequently.
  3. Increased engine noises: Since the vehicle can’t power the wheels by the electric motor, the full load is covered by the gas engine. so you can expect an increase in engine noises than usual.
  4. Unusual battery drops while driving: the car will take over and rev up the engine to try to get that battery charged that much faster.
  5. Negative battery recalibration: what this would be is you go and you park the car at night and the battery is fully indicated that it’s charged. when you park it, and then you go out whether it’s you know a day or two or even just overnight you come back out to the vehicle and that battery is empty. so that’s another indication that the battery is starting to fail.
  6. SOC issues: You may see unusual and swings in your SOC. this is another hybrid battery failure symptoms that you can experience.

So what we can do when you see hybrid battery failure symptoms in all those instances is recondition the battery back to a much healthier state through a reconditioning program. it’s not a one-time thing. it’s ongoing basically like an oil change, but for your battery. so every three to six months you’re gonna be in recondition that battery and keep it operating in top-notch shape.
